Douglas Ray - Director

Douglas directs corporate films and commercials and is particularly strong on storytelling and working with actors. Douglas’ work for Contented includes the Menu De Cannes for Electrolux and a range of films for AFI about financial inclusion shot in Mexico, Thailand, Philippines and Kenya. Recent commercials clients include Singapore Airlines, BMW and Playstation.

Douglas Ray is also writer/director who has written several spec British thrillers, most recently working with actor Tom Hardy (INCEPTION) on shooting a teaser trailer for a feature for the photographer Greg Williams to direct. This followed a successful collaboration in 2010 in which Douglas wrote a short called Sergeant Slaughter which Tom Hardy starred in and which Greg Williams directed.

Douglas is a graduate of the UK National Film and Television School. He worked his way up through the industry as an AD on feature films and TV drama. Douglas also worked as assistant to Marc Samuelson (brother and business partner of LA-based Peter Samuelson) and Director Ken Loach and producer Sally Hibbin.

Douglas has also directed several short films including Get Off My Land (writer/director) – starring Rafe Spall and Ruth Wilson. The film screened at over 30 festivals including Edinburgh, Locarno, Aspen Shortsfest, Toronto, Chicago and Palm Springs.
